A group of letters addressed to Julie Morrow DeForest while attending boarding schools in New York City. The first series of letters, 1907-1920, were written to her primarily by her father, Cornelius, professor and dean at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee and also by her mother, Roselle. These letters discuss family matters and her father's academic duties at the university. They also contain many comments on political events of the time period. Her father was a fervent Republican (in a Democratic stronghold) in support of Roosevelt and Taft and opposed to Bryan and Wilson.

Artist and poet; born in New York City; daughter of Cornelius Wortendyke and Roselle Caroline (Lippmann) Morrow. Studied at Wellesley College, A.B.; and Columbia University, A.M.
